Regent College learners have received praise for their volunteering contributions in the community during a visit by Labour MP for Stoke-on-Trent South, Dr Allison Gardner.
Learners and colleagues have supported the charity Walk, Talk, Action for a number of years. They provide hospitality at events, make handcrafted items to sell and raise money, and contribute towards the programme of wellness retreats organised for the charity’s members.
Dr Allison Gardner visited Walk, Talk, Action’s retreat area to hear about how the charity has helped many people with mental health support needs. The group of learners provided hospitality during the MP’s visit. They also helped her plant a silver birch tree at the retreat.
"It was such an honour to welcome Labour MP Dr Allison Gardner and show her firsthand how our retreat has helped so many people back to a better state of mind.
"During her visit, she planted a tree with the help of the wonderful Regent College volunteers, who come each week to help with the retreat, plant identification, path maintenance, and wildlife observation, among many other things. They are a huge part of the Walk, Talk, Action family."
