Volunteering Award for Regent College

Support Staffordshire Volunteer Award presented to learners and colleagues

We’re delighted to share the exciting news that learners and colleagues at Regent College have received a Staffordshire Volunteer Award for their volunteering support to a local charity.

The annual awards recognise volunteering contributions across Staffordshire. Regent College’s involvement with mental health charity Walk Talk Action has been praised.

Learners and colleagues have supported Walk Talk Action for many years. They provide hospitality at events, make handcrafted items to sell and raise money, and contribute towards the programme of wellness retreats organised for the charity’s members.

“Our collaboration with Regent College has brought a new wave of passionate young volunteers who are making an incredible impact. From clearing invasive plants and creating natural fencing to auditing safety supplies and planning educational workshops, these students are learning invaluable life skills while giving back to their community. Their work not only enhances our green spaces but also gives a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and well-being.”

“It’s a testament to our committed learners and colleagues to achieve a Support Staffordshire Volunteer Award for a second consecutive year! Community integration is a key part of what we do at college. Learners enjoy giving back to the community and helping those in need. I am very proud of everyone involved!”

Volunteering in the community

Taking part in real-life activities through volunteering is an important part of the curriculum at Regent College, enabling learners to develop confidence and life skills for adulthood and the world of work.

During the 2023/24 academic year, Regent College learners volunteered a total of 4347 hours.
