How old are the learners at Regent College?
Young people aged 16 to 25 years old.
What can I learn at Regent College?
Your learning experience at Regent College will be tailored to you. Do you want to learn independent living skills like being able to travel on your own, or to manage your own money? Or would you like to gain work experience with a business in your local neighbourhood?
We will support you to achieve your goals.
How can Regent College help me to get ready to live as an adult?
We will create a Programme of Study with you.
The Programme of Study will be focused on supporting you to achieve the goals and outcomes in your Education, Health and Care Plan.
The programme will help you to develop the skills to reach your goals. These could include:
skills needed to get you ready for work
social skills, independent living skills and communication skills.
A typical day at Regent College
How much time will I spend at college?
You can choose to attend college full-time, which is Monday to Friday during the term times.
Or you can choose to attend college part-time which is usually x days per week.
What are the times of a typical day at college?
- 10am: College start time
- 11am: Morning break time
- 12.30pm: Lunch break
- 3pm: Afternoon break time
- 4pm: College closes
Will I do all my learning in the college?
Most of your learning will take place at our Regent College. We are based in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent. Lots of learning can also take place in our local community at businesses and / or with charities, if that’s what you wish to do.
What types of learning can I do?
1. Foundation for Life and Living Course
On this course, you can build upon your communication, social and life skills to help grow your independence. You will have the chance to build friendships, become part of the local community and take part in volunteering activities.
You can also improve your physical wellbeing through a range of sports, healthy eating preparation and mental health activities.
2. Preparation for Adulthood Programme
This course can help to get you ready for going to work or to become a volunteer. You will have the chance to learn the skills that employers are looking for. You will be supported to do some work experience or to become a volunteer.
The topics covered on this course will include:
- Friends, Relationships and Community
- Good Health
- Independent Living
- Employment
3. Employability Study Programme
On this course, you will be supported to work towards gaining paid employment.
You will take part in practical, work-based learning, with the support of a job coach.
4. Supported Internships
If you want to find a job when you leave Regent College, we will support your transition. This could be by completing work experience placements or by doing a longer-term supported internship.
