Making a Positive Difference at Christmas
Regent College has embraced the spirit of giving this Christmas, with learners and tutors supporting a local Christmas craft fair and raising funds for the charity Walk Talk Action.
Tutors and learners set up their stall, complete with many handmade crafts. Sam, a learner at Regent College who has found a passion for photography and has been supported to develop his skills, made many sales of his own photos and promoted his business.
Jorge is another learner at Regent College who supported the festive community event. He was on hand to provide hospitality to a busy room of visitors alongside other volunteers. It was a great opportunity to develop his social skills and confidence.
“It was a truly magical event that brought the community together to make a positive difference. We even had a former learner pop by our stall to say hello and ask how everyone at Regent College is.”
~ Leah Lockley, tutor at Regent College
Reflecting on the success of the fundraising event, Walk Talk Action shared on its Facebook page:
“Leah, Katie, Sam, Raz, George & Karen from Regent College did a fab job not only volunteering, but Sam also sold his own photography products, including in frames, on bookmarks and coasters. There were some wonderful handmade crafts from the learners, too. It was beautiful to see so much talent in one room!”

Developing life skills in the community
Taking part in real-life activities is an important part of the curriculum at Regent College, enabling learners to develop confidence and life skills for adulthood, the world of work and volunteering.
Learners and tutors have supported Walk Talk Action for several years. They provide hospitality at events, make handcrafted items to sell and raise money, and contribute towards the programme of wellness retreats organised for the charity’s members.
